The best travel stories come from real experiences. Here's what makes TripOwl great:
- Honest, firsthand travel experiences — the good, the bad, and the unexpected. Real stories help real travellers.
- Practical tips that help fellow travellers — hidden gems, budget hacks, transport tips, food recommendations, safety advice.
- Beautiful photos from your own travels — your perspective of India and the world, captured through your lens.
- Respectful engagement — thoughtful likes, constructive comments, and genuine appreciation for other travellers' stories.
- Diverse perspectives — solo travellers, families, couples, budget backpackers, luxury seekers — every travel style has a place here.
What's NOT Allowed
We have zero tolerance for content that harms our community. The following will result in content removal and may lead to account suspension or permanent ban:
Hate Speech & Discrimination
- Content promoting hatred or violence against any religion, caste, community, race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.
- Casteist slurs, communal provocation, or content that demeans any community or cultural group.
- Subtle or coded language intended to discriminate against or dehumanise any group.
India is incredibly diverse — respect every community, culture, and tradition. This is non-negotiable.
Harassment & Personal Attacks
- Targeting, bullying, intimidating, or threatening other users.
- Publishing personal information of others without their explicit consent (doxxing).
- Sexually suggestive or inappropriate comments directed at other users.
- Coordinated harassment or pile-on behaviour against any individual.
Inappropriate Content
- Sexually explicit images, videos, or text.
- Graphic violence or gore.
- Content promoting or glorifying illegal activities.
- Deliberately false or misleading travel information that could put travellers at risk.
Spam & Commercial Content
- Promotional posts for businesses, hotels, tour operators, or commercial services.
- Repetitive, copied, or low-effort content posted in bulk.
- Fake reviews or paid endorsements without clear disclosure.
- Links to external commercial websites or affiliate marketing.
Intellectual Property
- Photos you did not take yourself (stock images, other photographers' work, screenshots from other platforms).
- Content copied from other websites, blogs, guidebooks, or platforms without attribution or permission.
How We Enforce These Guidelines
We believe in fair, transparent enforcement. Here's how violations are handled:
- First violation: Content removed + written warning sent to your account.
- Second violation: Content removed + 7-day posting suspension.
- Third violation: Permanent account ban.
Severe violations — including hate speech, threats of violence, or illegal content — result in an immediate permanent ban with no warnings.
How to Report Content
If you come across content that violates these guidelines, here's how to report it:
- Every travel story has a "Report" option — use it to flag content that concerns you.
- You can also email us directly at community@tripowl.in with the story link and a brief description of the issue.
- We review all reports within 36 hours, in compliance with the IT Rules 2021.
- Reported content may be temporarily hidden from the platform until our review is complete.
- All reports are treated confidentially — the person who posted the content will not know who reported them.
Appeal Process
We're human too, and sometimes we might get it wrong. If your content was removed and you believe it was an error:
- Email community@tripowl.in with the subject line "Content Appeal" and explain why you believe the removal was incorrect.
- We will review your appeal within 7 days and notify you of our decision.
- If we find the removal was a mistake, your content will be restored and any associated warnings will be removed from your account.
